Improvements and Bug Fixes:

The following new features or enhancements are added:

  • Incorporated the new features and bug fixes added in PowerServer (PB Edition) 2020 Build 2670. See here.
  • A new interface of_ismocklocation is added to the eon_mobile_geolocation object to check if the current location is a mock location.
  • Upgrade Cordova plugins to use the WKWebView component.

For more detailed information on improvements in PowerServer 2020 MR Build 2703, please see here.

For bug fixes in PowerServer 2020 MR Build 2703, please see here.

Installation/Upgrade Process:

1. Before you upgrade to this Appeon PowerServer 2020 Build 2703, it is strongly recommended that you read the important instructions.

2. An SHA256 hash code is provided for each installer. Please use the SHA256 code to verify the integrity of the downloaded installer file: You can get an sha256sum program from the Internet (for example, at http://www.labtestproject.com/files/win/sha256sum/sha256sum.exe), and follow the instructions of the program to compare the SHA256 value of the downloaded installer file and the SHA256 value that is provided for the installer.

3. Please stop your application server (for example IIS, WebLogic, etc.) before installation.

4. Please get the proper installer from the links below and then run the Appeon PowerServer 2020 Build 2703 setup file; please make sure all the components (Appeon PowerServer, and Appeon Workspace) have been upgraded together.

5. Please upgrade PowerServer Toolkit to version 2017 or later for working with this PowerServer version or to version 2020 Build 2323 or later if you need to package a mobile project for your applications. Note that you must have PowerBuilder CloudPro license to use PowerServer Toolkit.

6. After the installation, please verify the product versions to make sure you have all pieces successfully upgraded: you need to start your application server and verify that AEM still works and displays the version Appeon PowerServer 2020 Build 2703.00, and you also need to open Appeon Workspace and verify it also displays Appeon Workspace Build 2703.00.

7. Redeploy apps in a “Full Deployment” mode: once you have all the pieces upgraded, you now would need to do a “Full Deployment” of your applications to the upgraded Appeon Server.

Important Notes:

1. Trial versions are not included in the below table, if you want a free trial, please contact trial@appeon.com.

2. If the PowerServer (AEM) becomes inactivated after upgrading to PowerServer 2020 Build 2703, please click here to activate it.

A maintenance release (build 1951) for PowerBuilder 2017 R3 and InfoMaker 2017 R3 is officially released and available for downloading! This maintenance release includes updates and bug fixes for PowerBuilder IDE and InfoMaker.

Updated Product Components

The below product components have been updated in this maintenance release:

  • PowerBuilder IDE
  • InfoMaker

The below product components are not updated in this maintenance release:

  • PowerServer Toolkit
  • PowerServer (PB Edition)
  • PowerServer Help
  • PowerServer Web Component

Improvements

The following feature change is included in PowerBuilder 2017 R3 (MR 1951) and InfoMaker 2017 R3 (MR 1951):

  • (Online and offline license) Starting from PowerBuilder/InfoMaker 2017 R3 MR 1951 (and PowerBuilder/InfoMaker 2019 R3 GA), one user account can log into more than one version on the same machine simultaneously, just like logging into the multiple instances of the same version.

Previously, if your user account has been used to log into one version of PowerBuilder/InfoMaker, then this same account cannot be used to log into another version of PowerBuilder/InfoMaker on the same machine, unless this account is logged out first. While in PowerBuilder/InfoMaker 2017 R3 MR 1951 (and PowerBuilder/InfoMaker 2019 R3 GA), the same account can be used to log into more than one version on the same machine simultaneously. For example, if you have installed and logged into 2019 R3 GA successfully, and then if you installed PowerBuilder/InfoMaker 2017 R3 MR 1951, you can automatically log into PowerBuilder/InfoMaker 2017 R3 MR 1951 using the same user account of 2019 R3 GA, without needing to log out from 2019 R3 GA first.

IMPORTANT notes (for both online and offline license upgrade): If you want to upgrade PowerBuilder/InfoMaker to 2019 R3 GA or 2017 R3 MR 1951, you will need to log out from PowerBuilder/InfoMaker to deactivate the license first before the upgrade, otherwise, the license file will be occupied and may not be upgraded successfully, and you may need to log out the license (if it is an online license) from the Appeon website or contact Appeon support to log out the license (if it is an offline license).

Bug Fixes

You may see here for the bug fixes for PowerBuilder 2017 R3 MR (build 1951) and here for the bug fixes for InfoMaker 2017 R3 MR (build 1951).

Downloads

Please get the installers from our Downloads portal

Installation Notes

  1. If you are currently using PowerBuilder/InfoMaker 2017 R3 (build 1858, 1880, or 1915), please directly apply this MR (build 1951) on the top of your current 2017 R3.
  2. If you are currently using PowerBuilder/InfoMaker 2017 or 2017 R2, please first upgrade your current 2017 or 2017 R2 to 2017 R3 (build 1858) and then apply this MR (build 1951).

We are excited to announce that PowerBuilder 2019 R3 GA version and InfoMaker 2019 R3 GA version, build 2670, are officially released and available for downloading!

New Features and Bug Fixes

  • PowerScript development (PowerBuilder IDE, PowerBuilder Runtime, and PowerBuilder Compiler)
    • A new project type, PowerClient, is introduced and it enables seamless installation and self-updating for PowerBuilder applications regardless of client/server or cloud-native architecture.
    • PowerBuilder IDE and PowerBuilder Runtime are decoupled for separate installation and upgrade. Developers can switch the runtime version used for running, debugging, and compiling your application. It also enables developers to get enhancements to the IDE without affecting runtime, maintain multiple projects with various runtime versions, and easily revert back runtime versions.
    • Provides a demo app to demonstrate how to easily enrich PowerBuilder with modern interactive charts.
    • The WebBrowser control has been enhanced to easily integrate JavaScript with PowerScript, both synchronously and asynchronously. Besides being able to securely display Web content, developers can enrich their apps with new visual possibilities and JavaScript functionality. It also supports basic or digests authentication.

    • Double-clicking an object (such as applications, DataWindow object, windows, menus, user objects, functions, etc.) in the Browser window can open the painter associated with the object.
    • When a DataWindow column is set to the DropDownDW edit style and associated with a DataWindow object, you can right click the DataWindow column and then select Modify DropDownDW... to directly open and edit the associated DataWindow object in the painter.
    • Supports creating a PBR (PowerBuilder resource) file to list the resource names used by the RibbonBar control and compiling the PBR with the application executable.
    • JSONParser and JSONGenerator are enhanced to support getting and setting an item by path, and handling special values.
    • The HTTPClient object has added a validation of ignoring certain types of server certificate error and a revocation checking for server certificate when sending a request.
    • The 64-bit version of the TX Text Control is supported.
    • Supports Microsoft UI Automation to offer a richer set of properties and extended interfaces to manipulate not only standard controls but also custom controls such as PowerBuilder DataWindows and child controls in DataWindows.
