Posted by Nico Wang on 14 April 2016 02:19 PM

Symptoms: You may get the error 1608: Unable to create InstallDriver instance” when trying to install Appeon.

Cause: There might be problems with the installshield.

Solution #1: Please try to run the install driver IDriver.exe and IDriver2.exe under C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\8\Intel 32\. After that please run the Appeon setup.exe.

Solution #2: If doing the above does not help please try the solutions below:

  1. Go to Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance > Virtual Memory, and then change both initial and maximum size to the recommended ones.
  2. Go to Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance > Virtual Memory, change both initial and maximum size to 0, and then restart the machine. After that please set them back to the size you want. This forces it to re-create the page file.

Solution #3: IDriver may not have been installed properly. Please check and see if the following files exist in the directory C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\8\Intel 32?

  • _ISRES1033.dll
  • IDriver.exe
  • IScript8.dll
  • ISRT.dll
  • IUser8.dll
  • objps8.dll

If yes, please try to run regsvr32 on all of the files except the first two and run idriver /regserver.

If the setup works after that, the problem has to do with installation of IDriver engine itself.

Solution #4: please refer to the article here to get it resolved.
